May Alqassar is a Kuwaiti jewellery designer and the founder of eponymous May Alqassar Jewellery who has a visual admiration for beautiful objects of all kinds, whether in prints, paintings, or photography and takes cues from the fluid script of the Arabic alphabet with its graphics. After graduating in Communication Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, May Alqassar discovered her love for art and started exploring her skills. Since 2010 combining her graphic design and reinforcing a stronger presence of her jewellery design, May has launched her eponoumous May Alqassar jewellery brand. May's love and passion for designing jewellery started in earlier years and through the years her passion for art has evolved and she became the jewellery designer whose creation visually enchanted the wearer.

I had the pleasure of meeting May Alqassar during Milan Jewellery Week and I was immediately drawn to her jewellery. May's unique jewellery designs caught my eye, featuring graphic and geometrical shapes such as hexagons, pentagons, circles, squares, and rhombuses paired with gemstones like emeralds, rubies, and diamonds. Her rings and necklaces are more adventurous and like miniature art objects. The combined influence of the colourful, geometrically shaped abstract artworks of Wassily Kandinsky and the magical sweeping forms of Bridget Riley's black and white visual sensation playfully pursued May's perfect recipe for success and May's jewellery exuding confidence in her one-of-a-kind creations.

Each piece from May's collection takes your breath away, with its otherworldly designs. She draws inspiration from her Arabic roots, and each piece is hand-drawn and crafted in Kuwait. Her designs are a perfect blend of traditional and contemporary styles, exhibiting excellent craftsmanship. May is a true professional and an excellent communicator. When I asked her about her experience in the industry, she humbly replied that she has been designing for over 10 years. I was amazed by her skill in jewellery design. It was a pleasure to witness her passion for designing unique pieces of jewellery, and she proudly spoke about her professional background, design process, and inspiration.
